Flood Insurance
Flood Insurance is property coverage that normally supplements Homeowners or Renters Insurance protection. Most property coverage of a Homeowners or Renters Insurance policy excludes this cause of loss to your property.
Flood Insurance covers the direct physical loss to your property caused by:
- Unusual and rapid accumulation of runoff of surface waters from any source
- Mudflow
- Overflow of inland or tidal waters
- Collapse or subsidence of land along the shore of a lake or similar body of water as a result of erosion or undermining caused by abnormal waves or currents of water
- Flood-related back up of sewers and drains
A partial list of what is generally covered by Flood Insurance:
- The structure and its foundation
- Utilities servicing the property
- Built-in appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, cook tops, stoves and ovens
- Permanently installed carpeting
- Permanently installed paneling, wallboard, bookcases, and cabinets
- Personal belongings such as clothing, furniture, and electronic equipment
- Portable household appliances and electronic equipment
- Debris removal
